We encourage good character in all our programs, while empowering youth to make a positive impact on their community.
Developing good character and demonstrating leadership skills are critical for young people to succeed in school and in life. Our Character and Leadership programs challenge kids to be community-minded, and empower them by demonstrating how they can affect change by working together.
Club members have the opportunity to develop leadership skills in many ways, such as by serving as a junior leader, peer mentor, or committee officer, working with adults in the community and giving back to their community. Boys & Girls Club members organize and carry out hundreds of projects to lend a hand and make a difference in their schools, Clubs and neighborhoods each year. Our Clubs teach young people how to roll up their sleeves, dig in, and become active participants in their community.
Torch Clubs are nationally chartered leadership and service clubs for boys and girls ages 11 to 13. A Torch Club is a powerful vehicle through which Club staff can help meet the special character development needs of younger adolescents at a critical stage in their life.
Torch Club members learn to elect officers and work together to carry out activities.
Leaders In Training
Leaders-In-Training (LIT) is for members ages 13 to 17.
Through this program, our youth learn the virtue of handling responsibility, self-discipline, and teamwork. LIT’s assist our young Club members, lead recreational activities, and provide additional support. They gain valuable work experience and explore educational and career opportunities through personal guidance and career development workshops.
